Palatka Biomass self-generates its power using pulp and wood residues.

Since 1947, this pulp and paper mill located approximately 60 miles south of Jacksonville, Florida, has provided prosperity and economic growth for Palatka and Putham County. In January 1979, the mill became part of Georgia-Pacific Corp and became known as Palatka Operations. Products manufactured at the mill consist of natural and bleached paper, tissue paper and various tissue products.

Palatka also self-generates its power using pulp and wood residues and has 58 megawatts of generating capacity. The mill is 75% energy self-sufficient.

Technological upgrades and work force training have transformed Palatka Operations from a labor-intensive manufacturing plant into a computer-based, high-tech operation. Palatka employs more than 1,200 full-time employees. The mill and its employees contribute more than $150,000 annually for community programs and participate in numerous service organizations.
